7:27 p.m. / October 27, 2006 - - what if

What if- and let's be hypothetical here, I mean, come on- god didn't realize that they were god. What if someone or something or some planet had all of the power of the universe at their fingertips, but didn't comprehend it. What if they limited their spirits into bodies. What if a place like that existed.

An adult proclaims: I am seperate! while the child says, "no, I am entirely connected to this world! i am not seperate from it, we are one thingy!". Most people refer to their body as one thing. And most people refer to this planet as one thing, but they're just as seperate as anything else, composed of trillions upon trillions of smaller component parts which are in turn composed of smaller component parts and so on and so on and so on. Why do people strive to, "be a part of something" when they ARE already a part of something? The metaphor is overwhelming. We all want to be wanted, to be loved, to give love, we all want to be a part of something, we all strive to get back to one. But the children are right. We already are one.

Today at work I was thinking, man, what's the one thing that everybody is literally chasing after their whole lives? What will you never really discover in your lifetime? It's DEATH. It makes itself known to you throughout your life. Creatures and loved ones, strangers and plants and change, sweet change. And you might glimpse into the doors of death time and again due to various circumstances; a nearly fatal accident, the loss of someone particularly close to you (loss of part of self; self-death), LSD. But can any of that adequetely prepare you for stepping through the doors?

Remember kids, change is constant. Growth is optional.
